Travelling with toddlers and teens might sound too hard or no fun or scary, but it's wonderful, for you and your children. Just try it - you'll love it!

Tips and Tricks

You Can Do It!

It's always cheaper to arrange your rental car in Canada. However, while you may drive a minivan at home, in Europe think small: small roads = small cars. You'll appreciate it when you're driving down a road that was barely wide enough for a horse and cart a century ago.

If you need a passport for your newborn but haven't gotten the birth certificate yet, you can usually use a temporary confirmation of birth letter (available from the clerk's office of your city hall). Check the web site for your province for more info.

Wifi is available all over Europe - practically every hotel has it and so do many restaurants and public places. Don't bother with a laptop - take an iPod, it's smaller and cheaper.

Don't be afraid to travel with your newborn - they are wonderful travellers. They eat, sleep, look around and never complain about one more museum or another art gallery. My children have done their first plane trips at 3 months, 5 weeks and 9 weeks.
